StyleCup 2005

In 2005, the Almost Impatient Productions team was asked to compete in Style Cup 2005, "the ultimate hair, make-up and runway competition." April had incredible vision and amazing ideas for every category. She wanted to take a rugged approach to "Trendspotting", make a statement with "Bridal", create retro-glam for "Twilight Couture", and visualized a mesmerizing and organic creature for "Figments of Inspiration". It soon became less about hair and make-up and more about the love of these characters and bringing them to life. See a slideshow of photos from the Style Cup 2005 event here.

Almost Impatient Productions' team wowed everybody; winning two categories at Style Cup 2005 and were specially selected to orchestrate Style Cup 2006's intermission entertainment. We were honored to be chosen. This year we did not compete, but instead ran the back stage timing and showcased an extraordinary presentation of work produced by legendary Taos artists, Tom Wheeler , Ed Sandoval and Ann Huston and the incredible local artists Nathan Capeheart and Donna Bennett.

StyleCup 2006

Style Cup 2006, as always, was a very important event and the proceeds went to an extremely worthy cause, Project Transitions. Project Transitions is dedicated to serving people in Austin with HIV and AIDS by providing hospice, housing and support in a compassionate and caring environment.

Top Drawer Couture

"SHOWTIME We came; we saw; we screamed! I couldn't believe it. Honestly, I'd expected much less from this fashion show"
Fashion columnist Stephen Macmillan Moser who emceed the Top Drawer Couture event gave Almost Impatient a rave review in the Austin Chronicle.

After enjoying such success with Style Cup 2005, Almost Impatient Productions produced their 1st Annual Top Drawer Couture show. The runway show, the auction of the one-of-a-kind Couture clothing, and the shopping done by the patrons throughout the store during the show enabled this venture to be a wonderful success. 100% of all proceeds went to the worthy cause of Project Transitions. The event received an impressively glowing review in the Chronicle. See a slideshow of photos from the Top Drawer event here.

Top Drawer is a thrift store on Burnet Road that benefits Project Transitions (www.projecttransitions.org) All proceeds from the sale of donated merchandise at Top Drawer benefit Project Transitions' programs and services.

The runway show featured debut designs by Acaia, and innovative, edgy, re-created designs by Almost Impatient Productions with clothing from Top Drawer. Visual Lyrics set the mood with their stunning floral and set designs. Crave Catering provided fully decked out tables using décor from Top Drawer with sensuous and refined culinary treats that created an explosion of flavors for all tastes.

Almost Impatient Productions paid for all the costs of the showcase. We were able to go all out in large part due to the generosity of donors at our hair cutting fundraiser hosted by Orbit Salon and manned by Almost Impatient Production stylists. To top it all off, we just can't seem to stay out of the Chronicle!
